When I refer to myself as an accidental business owner, it’s not because my business magically fell into place. Far from it. The reality is, when I started contracting in 2022, I wasn’t setting out to build an agency. I simply saw a gap, said yes to a few things and before long, I was deep in the trenches of something much bigger than I’d planned.
But here’s what I’ve learned since... business doesn’t just “happen.”
Behind every seemingly “lucky” break is a mountain of hard work. It takes intention, strategy, experimentation, and more than a little discomfort. It takes late nights, tough decisions, and a willingness to step far outside your comfort zone.
For me, it looked like this:
Hours of self-led learning
Deep dives into systems and software
Consuming every podcast, tutorial, and article I could get my hands on
Constantly asking, “how can I do this better?”
I became - possibly to an obsessive degree - committed to making it work. And that’s what it took.
None of the growth my business has experienced happened by accident. There was no secret shortcut. It came down to consistent, deliberate effort and a refusal to coast.
So when I see business owners stuck in reaction mode - skipping the planning, avoiding the foundational work, or constantly winging it - I get curious. Because I’ve been there. And I know how powerful things can get when you pause and choose to grow with intention.
That's what I help others do now.
If any of this hits home—if you’ve been feeling a bit adrift or know you’re ready for a more purposeful approach—reach out. I’m always up for a conversation about building better.
